About this event
We are delighted and excited to present this very special meetup “What is Systemic Consciousness and How Can it Heal?” with Michael Sapyd, an international coach, trainer, speaker and author. Michael has been studying and practicing in systemic consciousness for at least 15 years, with deep training in systemic constellations and ORSC.
What do we mean by systemic consciousness? Systemic consciousness could be described as how a system -- whether a team, group, or organization -- makes sense of its world: what its “rules” are, how one remains in good standing within the community, what it values, what it believes. We can tap directly into this consciousness by tuning our own perception beyond our individual consciousness, by learning to read and skillfully articulate the emotional field in a room, and by using systemic constellations to see the effects of this consciousness on the system, which allows us to experience the relationship between different elements of the system and their dynamic tensions.
There are many implications to our ability to perceive systemic consciousness, regardless of our role. The first system all of us belong to is our family; when we tune into systemic consciousness, we see that our ancestors are frequently with us, influencing our decisions — sometimes in helpful ways, other times based on the anxiety they grew up in.
Leaders can expand their own effectiveness by tuning into systemic consciousness, exploring the unconscious and entangled patterns within the organization they lead or influence, seeing clearly their own entanglements, and allowing the system to respond to its natural movement to greater self-organization.
The session will have three main elements: 1) understanding some concepts of systemic consciousness, 2) doing an exercise for you to experience a little of this for yourself, and 3) a fishbowl demonstration of systemic consciousness on a real life system, with someone in attendance bringing their own system to explore with the group.
ABOUT MICHAEL SPAYD
I think my work can be summed up pretty well in a quote from a client, who said “if you’re not ready for change, don’t call Michael.” That felt like a real compliment, and also a powerful summary of my life’s mission, in a word my purpose is transformation.
I love what I do: helping leaders make changes in themselves and in the organizations they love. I employ unique approaches to sense organizational architecture and relationship systems, especially obscure / hidden ones, to help reveal them to the system, tapping into the natural self-healing nature of such systems.
I am the co-founder of the Agile Coaching Institute, Trans4mation, and most recently The Collective Edge. I am a certified Organization and Relationship Systems Coach (ORSC), in Organizational Systemic Constellations, an ICAgile Expert in Enterprise Coaching, and am a co-founder of the ICAgile tracks in Agile Team Coaching and Enterprise Agile Coaching. I am the co-author of the highly anticipated book “Agile Transformation: Using the Integral Agile Transformation Framework to Think and Lead Differently” available Fall 2020.
