Talk #1

Title: Check out this mesh!

Description: Now you have a service mesh. How do you know if the services are behaving properly?

In this presentation, we will show you some observability best practices around logging, request tracing, and metrics.

We will also explain some tools and frameworks, how to configure and use them to monitor your services.

By Bruno Baptista, Principal Engineer at Talkdesk

Bio: Bruno Baptista is a Principal Engineer at Talkdesk. With over 13 years as an enterprise-level engineer, Bruno has led QA and development teams, garnered skills in requirements analysis and development processes. During his career path, he has contributed to open source projects like Apache TomEE and Eclipse Microprofile. He also continues to help organize the Coimbra Java Users Group (JUG) and the JNation conference.

Talk #2

Title: What a mesh we got here, consul...

Description: Hashicorp’s service discovery tool Consul found his way into service mesh alongside his sidekick partner envoy, making up a very powerful partnership named consul connect, that is orchestrator, cloud, or on-prem agnostic.

In this presentation, we will have a hands-on demonstration of how we can leverage consul connect to enable secure and with access control connectivity in a service mesh.

By André Ilhicas, Site Reliability Engineer at Talkdesk

Bio: Noob father, wearer of many hats, DevOps at heart, SRE at Talkdesk.

Worked as a consultant, now as a team member consultant.
