About this event

Hello Portugal Gophers 🙌 In October we will be hosting a very special Portugal Gophers meet-up: the first one to happen in Porto! And we have a great speaker joining us! 🎉 This month's speaker will be... 🥁 📢 Kat Zień, on "How Do You Structure Your Go Apps?" "How should I structure my Go code?" is probably one of the most commonly asked questions, by new and experienced programmers alike. There is almost always more than one answer and it can be tricky to decide what will work best. Should I keep all my files under one directory or should I split them up? How should I divide my code and into what packages? Can I write object-oriented code in Go? Why do some projects have a cmd directory and what is the advantage of that? This talk will aim to answer those questions and give you an overview of common design patterns and best practices to make your projects testable, maintainable and easy to understand. ❓ About Kat: Kat works at Monzo (https://monzo.com/) as a backend engineer on the fincrime team. Her main interests include automating #allthethings, sorting out legacy code and making things simpler and faster. She's co-organising London Gophers (https://www.meetup.com/Go-London-User-Group/). Kat loves travelling and keeping active, appreciates good coffee and is a big Lego fan. She cycles across Europe with TechBikers (https://techbikers.com) to raise money for Room To Read (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/techbikers-paris-to-london-2019-673). 🗓 Agenda 18:30 - Open Doors 19:00 - Talk 20:00 - Social & Networking 📍 Host - Talkdesk (https://www.talkdesk.com) Talkdesk will be sponsoring this event, with space, food, and drinks! 🙏 Please join us! ---------------------------------- portugalgophers@gmail.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/GophersPortugal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwxeVe6zJSGfOON5C6Wg3Eg/
